I am Tina, touristik and hiking guide and originally german, living on Fuerteventura since 2002. I always have been fascinated by travelling, disvovering new things, new countries, other cultures, meeting other people ... And being active. Travelling for me always meant knowing about the history of those places I have been to and getting in contact with the local people. That is one of the main reasons, why I decided to study tourism. And then finally I found my perfect place to live, on Fuerteventura. But, to be honest, at the beginning I didn’t really like that island that much. Like for a lot of people, for me it was just a windy, stony island…After a few days it was that silence which surprised me … a silence which is quite unusual in the century we are living. And then I became curious: there must be something else here on the island, apart from wind and stones…so I started travelling all over the island and discovering the history of the island. And that’s how I fell in love with Fuerteventura. I discovered that there is so more more than just beaches, sand, stones and wind…a lot more ! I realized that it is true: Fuerteventura is an oasis in the desert of civilisation (Miguel de Unamuno). So I decided to convert my passion for Fuerteventura to my profession: for more than 10 years I have been working as a tour guide on the island. I am passionate about showing the visitors the beauty of Fuerteventura.
And with FuerteventurActive my very personal journey goes on – a project with the focus on the nature of the island as an alternative way to the “all inclusive” tourism. A project born out of my passion and enthusiasm for nature, hiking and running!
Of course, you don’t really need a guide to go hiking. But how you will know what is the name of that plant with those little orange fruits? Or why are there all those fantastic stone houses and windmills everywhere? Why is Lajares named Lajares and why are those sand dunes where they are when the coast is far away…? I will give you the answer to all those questions any many more- I show you Fuerteventura from another perspective !
